Connectedness

Last night Aaron, Jason, and I converged on The Flat Top Grill in Oak Park and then made our way over to the Dominican University for Brian McLaren’s lecture, Truth Telling in Christian America: Globalization, Poverty, and the Environment. We hadn’t seen each other for months. Jason lives nearby, but Aaron lives at the other end of the Chicagoland area. We found the Dominican staff to be gracious hosts and Mclaren to be insightful, as always.

It was quite a surprise to meet Off The Map web coordinator and Conversation At The Edge blogger, Helen Mildenhall there. Jason had met her at an Uprooted conference. We all had a nice chat together and found out that she was acquainted with two other good blogger friends, Erin Word and John Smulo.

McLaren has a way of seeing things differently that just makes too much sense to ignore. I look forward to reading his new book, Everything Must Change. Maybe, some of us could blog our way through the book together.

  4. Erin- I am not into writing reviews either. I was hoping for more of a using the book as a springboard for discussion. This seems like an important book for our times. So, I hope to experiment with the blogging/discussion thing.
